Guide Right is Kappa Alpha Psi’s national service program, created to inspire, mentor, and prepare young men for success in every area of life.
Under this banner, the Kappa Leadership & Development League works specifically with high school–aged young men, helping them discover and strengthen their leadership skills.
Through education, mentoring, and real-world experiences, the League equips participants to lead with character, excel academically, and contribute meaningfully to their communities, preparing them to thrive in every phase of human endeavor.
The 7 Phases of Kappa League
Kappa League is a career-development program for male students in grades 6th through 12th. The nucleus and primary focus of the program revolves around seven phases of development that shape young men into leaders.
Discipline, Assurance, Awareness, and Appearance.
Academic, Career-Choice, Preparation, and Organization.
Politics, Career Advancement, and Sports.
Religion, The Arts, Entertainment, Conversation, Communication, and Etiquette / Manners.
Physical Fitness, Sex Education, Drug Education, and Health and Safety.
Financial literacy, ownership, and the long view of economic agency.
Higher education pathways, professional readiness, and the steps after high school.
Saturday programming, cohort gatherings, community service days, and the moments in between. The League is what shows up in the photos.
Dr. Essix leads the Woodbridge chapter’s Kappa League, overseeing the program’s curriculum, the development of its scholars, and the partnerships that extend the League’s reach across Prince William County. He directs the day-to-day work of the program and is the first point of contact for parents, partners, and prospective participants.
